Ours is the only specialty devoted to diagnosing and treating conditions of the nose and sinuses. The nose warms and humidifies the air before oxygen in taken into the lungs. It also houses our sense of smell. The paranasal sinuses are spaces in the bones of our face and skull. They connect to the nose through small openings. Mucous produced in the sinuses goes through the openings into the nose and then down the throat. This "mucocillary blanket" helps to protect the body from infections. The system can malfunction due to repeated infections, injury, allergy and inhalation of toxic substances. Symptoms include:

 

 

Diagnosis may include nasal endoscopy, x-ray and allergy testing. Treatment may involve medication, environmental control and surgery. If surgery is needed we have extensive experience and expertise in the minimally invasive techniques of endoscopic sinus surgery.
