Where All Avenues To Better Hearing Are Explored
Before A Hearing Aid is Recommended
At Eastern Connecticut Ear, Nose & Throat we understand the importance of good hearing. To us better hearing is more than a business. It is an obligation that we take very seriously. Before undertaking the fitting process of amplification our physicians explore all avenues of medical restoration of your hearing. Only after it is determined that hearing cannot be restored through medical intervention will we recommend amplification. (click the image to see full illustration)
Eastern Connecticut Ear, Nose & Throat provides a full service audiology and hearing aid clinic, which includes hearing and hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid dispensing and repair, batteries, and all-make warranties. Our audiologists have combined experience of over fifty years and thousands of eastern Connecticut residents are benefiting from that experience with well-fitted amplification systems. You will find our prices surprisingly low and our technology unsurpassed. In addition, should you need financing to purchase your instruments we are in partnership with CareCredit® and SoundChoice®.
In addition Eastern Connecticut Ear, Nose and Throat offers a sixty (60) day trial with a full refund guarantee if the hearing instruments are returned within the sixty day trial. It is important to note, however, that we do not just fit the hearing instruments and then wish you the best. During our sixty day trial we schedule several follow-up visits so that we can address your concerns regarding the performance of your hearing instruments. Hearing aid fittings are a process and we feel strongly that if we cannot satisfy your hearing needs over those sixty days then you should not be required to bear the burden of the costs involved. It should be noted that we here at Eastern Connecticut Ear, Nose and Throat have one of the lowest return rates in the industry, a testament to the expertise of Bill Marshall and Elyse Kirschblum, our certified audiologists. In addition to our full refund policy your purchase of a hearing instrument entitles you to free adjustments throughout the life of the instrument. If your instrument needs repair and can be fixed in-office there will be no charge even after the instrument warranty (typically two years) expires. Should your hearing change your instrument will be adjusted to reflect that change, and again there will be no charge.
Don’t be fooled, hearing aid selection is determined by life style and not by degree of hearing loss. For example: Sally and Frank visit our office and their hearing evaluations indicate that both have exactly the same severity and configuration of loss. Sally, however, is 43 years old and employed in a busy office with all the accompanying noise such an office generates. She is an active woman who enjoys dining out and dancing, and participates regularly in many civic activities. Frank, on the other hand, is 77 years old and has been retired for twelve years. His children are grown and live out of state. Frank loves to read and rarely dines out. His primary form of entertainment is watching a good TV drama now and then. His world is far quieter than is Sally’s. Frank and Sally, although having identical hearing loss, require different hearing instruments. Keep in mind that 99% of all hearing aids are now digital and both Sally and Frank will be fitted with digital hearing instruments. The difference is that Sally’s hearing instruments will have to deal with a far noisier world than will Frank’s. Their aids may look the same from the outside, but the inner electronics will be very different. Sally’s aids will be required to identify many different kinds of noise and reduce them in relation to speech, while Frank’s will not. Frank requires a less sophisticated instrument and therefore a less expensive instrument. Both will hear speech the same in a quiet environment, but Sally will hear better than Frank in a noisy environment because her life style requires it and her hearing instrument provides for it. We pride ourselves at Eastern Connecticut Ear, Nose and Throat at never over-selling a hearing instrument. This results in significant saving for our patients. We appreciate and value our patients and feel strongly about giving back. Therefore, we offer all of our patients a $50 reward for any patient they refer who purchases hearing instruments from our office. The reward will be disbursed upon completion of payment. Experience the difference a medically oriented hearing aid dispensing practice can make. Call for an appointment at any of our three conveniently located offices.
